School Newsletter

Last Friday in our Collective Liturgical Prayer time we explored Marks Gospel (Mark 10:17-22) when Jesus tells of the rich man that needs to get rid of all of his riches so that he can get to heaven
The children were very good at exploring what was improtant in life and that love tumped money and possions everytime. They talked about how they may have nagged for things to be bought for them and then they stopped using them soon afterwards. Please talk with with child and see how they can share their love and spend time rather than money with those close to you all.
Young Minds
It was lovely today to see yellow across the school in support of Young Minds last week. We have discussed with the children how it is important to look after our minds as well as our physical and how even a simple smile can help someone who is feeling sad. We have reinforced with the children that donations are great for charities but also support for our emotions is also as important. If you feel that you are able to support this charity this is the link for donations https://www.youngminds.org.uk/support-us/donate/
Tyne Theatre pantomime
You will have received a letter regarding the pantomime at the Tyne Theatre this Christmas. It is so exciting that we will be able to venture out again and enjoy this traditional Christmas fun time. The children will be going to Newcastle on the morning of the 21st December, if you have missed the letter please contact the school office on either 01670 822389 or [email protected]. To help with the cost of the performance and the coach costs we are asking for £15 per child however should you wish to chat about this please do contact us.
Mini Vinnies
Last week we welcomed our new Mini Vinnies into their role in school. These children have volunteered to give up their time outside of the school day to help the school community and those in our neighbourhood. The children applied for the position of Mini Vinnie and were commissioned on Thursday in front of the school with Michael Willcock from the Mini Vinnies, St Vincent de Paul Society. We were all very proud of them and look forward to seeing how they lead us.
Christmas performances
We are hoping to hold Christmas performances by the children this year but we are going to be cautious and keep them to class performances. This will mean one time slot where each child will have two spaces for parents or carers.
We will give you more information nearer the time but wanted to let you know the dates and times.

Reminders
We still request that backpacks are not used for school as they can cause obstructions in the cloakroom areas due to their size. Drawstring backs allow the bag to be placed away when the books are removed. The children can use a school drawstring back or one of their own.
We also welcome book bags as these can be stored safely.
Water bottles should also be in school every day but it is best for these to come into school empty so that spillages do not happen. We would prefer school water bottles to be used to eliminate any competition over branded items.
Jewellery must not be worn in school for safety reasons including earrings. Please ensure that you child has earing removed before school.
